New arterial road launched in Tumakuru city to ease peak-hour congestion
A 4.8 km first-phase link from the Bengaluru–Tumakuru highway to the city core was inaugurated, aimed at cutting peak-hour delays.

Tumakuru city today launched a new arterial road designed to pull through-traffic off the packed inner streets. The first phase runs 4.8 km from the Bengaluru–Tumakuru national highway into the district office precinct.
At the inauguration, civic officials said school buses and ambulances would get priority access once the corridor opens. Construction is targeted to finish in 14 months.
Shopkeepers welcomed the long-term relief but asked for a written plan on kerbside parking during the works. The City Corporation will hold a public meeting before publishing the traffic diversion map.
The project is budgeted at about ₹186 crore, funded through the state urban development window and a central grant.
