Magnitude 4.9 earthquake in Chamoli; tremors reported in Delhi-NCR

A magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district at about 10:24 p.m. on October 6, Akashvani reported, citing the National Centre for Seismology.

The epicentre was at an approximate depth of 13 kilometres. Tremors were reported in parts of Uttarakhand and Delhi-NCR. Earthquake magnitude measures energy at the source; the shaking experienced can vary between locations.
